Friday Night Supper Program runs in large part thanks to the hundreds of volunteers that help us each year. It is with your man power that we’re able to set up the hall, prepare a meal, serve hundreds of guests, and break it all down week after week. Without the generous time our volunteers give us, we would certainly be unable to serve the 7,000+ meals we serve every year. If you’re interested in becoming part of our large family of volunteers, read the information below and email us to get started.
To request to volunteer at FNSP, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to check availability. In your email, please state how you heard about FNSP, how frequently you plan to come, if anyone will be joining you, and if you will need your volunteer hours verified.
The evening volunteer shift is from approximately 5pm-8pm. Please be sure to arrive by 5pm, dress comfortably with closed-toe shoes, no heels, and long hair tied back. No one under the age of 18 may participate without a parent’s signature.
What to expect:
During the volunteer shift you will be signed in, given an orientation, and assigned a task. Tasks include drying dishes, serving food, carrying trays weighing upwards of 15 pounds, sorting through clothing, serving beverages, washing dishes, taking down tables and chairs, and sweeping and mopping. Please be sure to tell the director if you have any limitations on mobility at the beginning of the volunteer session. Volunteers are encouraged to engage in conversation with our guests. We pride ourselves on our delicious and healthy meals, but also the friendly service we provide to our guests!
The entrance for our guests and volunteers is in the back of the church. From Arlington Street, turn onto the public alley. Past the handicap ramp, you will see two double doors. Ring the doorbell and gain access to the downstairs double doors that bring you to our basement location.
