Volunteer
The FNSP relies solely on the availability of volunteers to bring the weekly meal to those in need. It is volunteers who give the program its strength and character and who have been instrumental in ensuring the program has never missed a Friday in 25 years.
Volunteering provides a meaningful and convenient way for people to "give back" to the community, and it is a wonderful way to meet and work with people who share your concern for helping others. Volunteering also provides a valuable educational opportunity for individuals and groups who want to learn more about and advocate for the end of hunger and related social issues.
Individuals
You can volunteer any Friday evening from 5:00pm - 7:30pm. If you come by yourself or with one friend, you can just show up.
Groups
All volunteer groups (three or more people) must schedule a date in advance. You can then volunteer on your scheduled Friday evening from 5:00pm - 7:30pm. Please email us at info@fridaynightsupper.org to schedule a date.
Orientation
This is held the first and third Friday of every month at 5:00pm. It is not required prior to volunteering, but we do ask that all volunteers attend an orientation at some point if they plan to volunteer on a regular basis.
Volunteer Registration
All new volunteers must complete the volunteer registration form. You can bring it with you when you come to volunteer.
Age Requirement
It is the FNSP policy that all volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Individuals under 18 wishing to volunteer must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please read and complete our permission slip for additional information.
Day Time Volunteers
The FNSP is always in need of Friday day time volunteers between the hours of 12:00pm and 4:00pm. If you like to cook and want to help our Kitchen Manager prepare the evening meal, please contact us.
What to expect when volunteering at The FNSP
- Volunteers help with meal serving, dishwashing in the kitchen, distributing clothing and toiletries, and clean up at the end of the meal.
- All volunteers must wear closed toe flat heel shoes and tie up long hair.
- Volunteers are encouraged to engage in conversation with our guests to learn more about the people we serve.
For additional information on volunteering please contact us at info@fridaynightsupper.org.
