Leadership
FNSP benefits from the dedicated leadership of a director and a board of directors with tremendous support from volunteers.
Libby Ellis, Director
Libby Ellis is a nonprofit administrator and fund development professional with over 20 years experience in social service delivery and management joined FNSP as its Director in May, 2007.
Ms. Ellis began her career in political campaign administration, moved on to the State of Ohio’s Attorney General’s Office and later started her own company providing legal support services in matters of environmental litigation. In the early 1990’s, following her volunteer experiences with women in domestic violence shelters, Ms. Ellis left her professional career to create a nonprofit organization to serve homeless women and families called First Step Alliance. First Step Alliance, Inc. provided goods and services to formerly homeless families as they transitioned into their own homes. Under her leadership for 10 years, First Step grew from a collection of goods stored in her garage into a financially self-sufficient organization with a fleet of trucks, a staff of 12 and a 15,000 sq.ft warehouse. The organization provided services to 100 families each month on behalf of 28 member agencies.
Since 2001, Ms. Ellis has provided freelance grant writing and development services to a number of healthcare and social service organizations, raising over 3 million dollars in 2005 and 2006. In June 2006, Ms. Ellis and her 3 daughters moved to Boston from Cleveland to assume a position at a small graduate school. She recently made the decision to once again use her experience in service to homeless people and joined the Friday Night Supper Program as its Director.
Board of Directors
FNSP’s Board of Directors meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month. Its members are actively involved in all aspects of program administration and management.
